http://thejunction.net/justfacts/2008/07/17/200...
The major worldwide athletic event of 2008 comes with four very distinct amp; complex perspectives, unfortunately. We intend to review these 4 Olympic perspectives: Sports (countries participating, athletes, athletic events amp; world records); Politics of human rights and worldwide boycott efforts, that just can t be dismissed; Environmental greenhouse gases and the worldwide ozone impact; and Globalization, where the Chinese government is showcasing it economic capabilities to the world.

2008 Summer Olympics Part 4 - China s Human Rights
http://thejunction.net/justfacts/2008/08/10/200...
To believe that the Olympics in todays world is a mere sporting event is naive. Beijing was awarded the Olympics as a political gesture allowing them to prove themselves. Now it is up to China to prove to the world they are up to the task of living up to international human rights standards. Everyone MUST be so bold to declare ANYTHING less will negatively impact any recognition China hopes to achieve from these 2008 Olympic games. Everyone must be held to the same international human rights standard, including the United States.

Alert! Alert! Save a Cuban mother from an unjust prison sentence *Alert! Alert!
http://hiphopsdeepestdays.weebly.com/2/post/200...
Meet Iris Tamara Pérez Aguilera. She is 38 years old, and a proud mother of a 14-year old boy, and she is about to become Cuba's newest Prisoner of Conscience. That is, unless you save her. Her crime? Interceding on behalf of a young Cuban named Milquiades Hernåndez who was being brutally beaten by police on the streets of Placetas in Villa Clara province. Specifically, Iris asked that he be taken to a hospital so he wouldn't bleed to death. Her humanitarianism was rewarded with violence and racism:
