Internet Will Change Television
http://www.tviki.com/...
The Internet as we know it has changed so many things about our daily lives. Most people can't remember a time before computers, when communication was done only by letter or phone, when people had to go outside their house or travel long distances to meet people from other states and countries. Not only has it changed these things, it is set to change many more things about our daily lives. Television is one of the things that the Internet has begun to change, and there is no end in sight to the amount of changes it will make. First, there were TV listings on the Internet, similar to what you would have only seen in your weekly television guide. Then came the ability to watch what was on your TV on your computer screen instead of using a special media card and software. Now, the Internet allows you to watch more than just the channels you can get out of your particular television. With websites like TViki, you can view programming from channels around the world. Immigrants from other countries can now watch programming in their native tongue, on channels they can't get in their new countries, all through the Internet. There are even optional subtitles on some programming, making it easy to understand what is going on even if you don't know the language. With the advent of Internet streaming television like that on TViki, gateways into other countries' cultures and programming are now there to be explored through the powerful medium of Internet television.
