Market came up 500 points http://www.secretconsulting.com/stock-market-50... A few days a go, we saw a nice 500 pt jump by the stock market, Many were happy to see such a jump in the right direction and many are afraid as they seem to think the volatility of the market is still continuing.
The market coming up 500 points is great but not by far an indicator that the state of the country is getting better. Other factors to consider for February are as follow. Home sales statistics show the new home market saw a small boost of close to 5%, despite being a positive move in the right direction”¦this makes February the second worst month in our history since the past 20 years for new home sales. Existing home sales were also up close to 5% and that on the other hand is a great sign. Consumer spending was also up and retail sales enjoyed another decent month.
So what caused the market to jump up 500 points?
The market jump occurred after Obama’s announcement that a possible alternative to getting our banks to start lending again would be to create a government based bank that would buy troubled mortgages and open them up to investors that would want to earn big profits in the long run.
By taking the bad loans off the bank’s books we allow them more room for lending as they have more capital to invest in their own programs. So the market jump was no coincidence, the president speaks, the market goes up”¦The secretary speaks, the market crashes”¦So why the disconnect?
We spoke earlier about the importance of consumer confidence when fortifying an economy, the consumer confidence level directly dictates where we go as a country”¦People seem to have faith in the new president but simply do not feel as confident with his secretary Timothy. Lets hope the market keeps going up 500 points weekly and someone make note to keep the Treasury Secretary to remain active behind the camera, not in front of it.
Leave us a comment and lets us know what you think about Timothy and his impact on the market?
