Rape is legal in Afghanistan? http://www.secretconsulting.com/rape-is-legal-i... The Taliban is pushing to legalize woman rape in Afghanistan”¦
This may sound like a joke, but it is not”¦The Taliban has announced that it wants to legalize woman rape, and their president Hamid Karzai is allowing it (cause he wants to get re-elected)
So what does that really mean?
The Shia Family Law allows for sexual intercourse between married couples without consent and requires a husband’s permission for a woman to leave the home, work or pursue education. And in the event of divorce, the father or grandfather is granted custody of the children.
This law is very old and somehow is now being brought back to life as the president Hamid Karzai wants to please the Taliban and ensure that the Taliban who really controls the country is happy.
Hamid Karzai has some “wiggle”¯ room before the bill is passed and it has gotten the attention of the UN, USA and many major countries across the world that believe this is a huge violation to women’s rights globally.
Shia woman in Afghanistan are fearing this new law going into effect and only hope that diplomatic solutions can handle the bill before it is passed. The US did mention that our work in Afghanistan was not about bringing democracy to the land but rather making sure it does not become ground for the Taliban plotting attacks against the globe, but it is hard to ignore the ignorance we fight against.
I think the US should put severe pressure on Afghanistan leaders to stop this at once, it is in violation of woman’s rights and Human rights.
