Wenar proposes a very interesting trust-and-tariff mechanism to combat rights violations. I normally root for free trade; NAFTA all the way. From the property rights stance, however, things may be a little bit different. Further, trade going on in the developing world often isn't truly 'free': the U.S. subsidizes large amounts of food production, to the devastation of developing countries whose farmers can't compete. The end point being that there may be policy measures that can make a difference, a positive difference, in the world. I think this is good food for thought, and perhaps even action.
