David Prutton’s Sky Bet Championship predictions | Football News

Who is David Prutton tipping for victory in the Sky Bet Championship on Good Friday? Find out here…

Luton vs Nottingham Forest, 12.30pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

It feels like Luton may have hit the buffers at the wrong time. Three without a win now has given some hope for the sides hoping to nick their spot in the top six between now and the end of the season.

Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, are simply flying. Five wins in a row, and the team that could most trouble Bournemouth for second spot. It could be close, but Forest’s momentum should see them edge it at Kenilworth Road.

Prutton predicts: 1-2 (Sky Bet odds)

Birmingham vs Coventry, 3pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Button

Birmingham have only scored one goal in their last five games, which was a penalty, and that says quite a lot about their difficulties this season.

Coventry claimed a fantastic win at Fulham last weekend to keep their slender play-off hopes alive. Until it’s mathematically over all they can do is keep going. A win here, and you never know.

Prutton predicts: 0-1 (Sky Bet odds)

Bournemouth vs Middlesbrough, 3pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

Now this is a big, big game. Bournemouth have just suffered a little bump again in their last two games, and suddenly the menacing presence of Nottingham Forest is looming on the horizon.

Middlesbrough themselves have also suffered two defeats at the wrong time. They are still well-placed but need a lot of wins between now and the end of the season to get them into the top six. I can’t see a win at the Vitality, though. Score draw.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 (Sky Bet odds)

Hull vs Cardiff, 3pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Button

That was a great win for Hull at Middlesbrough last week, and it should provide them some momentum heading into the final stages of the season. Even with nothing to play for, it’s always good to try and end things on a high.

Cardiff bounced back well from their horror show against Swansea to beat Reading. Survival is confirmed now, and it’s time for Steve Morison and his side to look forward. They showed good character, and will do again versus Hull.

Prutton predicts: 0-1 (Sky Bet odds)

Peterborough vs Blackburn, 3pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Button

It is likely a matter of when rather than if for Peterborough now in terms of relegation. It could happen by the end of Easter weekend, although Grant McCann’s side have shown an improvement in recent weeks.

Blackburn simply have to win this to have a real hope of clawing their way back into the top six. But I just cannot see it with the way they have been going lately. Draw for me.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 (Sky Bet odds)

Sheffield United vs Reading, 3pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Button

Sheffield United will have been frustrated not to have beaten Bournemouth last weekend, but they are still largely in control of their play-off spot.

Reading still have a little bit to do to ensure survival, and a defeat here could leave them sweating a little again if other results go against them. I cannot, in truth, see them picking up anything from Bramall Lane.

Prutton predicts: 3-1 (Sky Bet odds)

Huddersfield vs QPR, 5.30pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

It’s been a huge couple of wins lately for Huddersfield. They are close to being assured of a play-off spot, and have still got half an eye on Bournemouth if the Cherries continue to slip up.

QPR are in freefall. Their play-off dream is all-but over after five defeats on the bounce. While it would be typical of the Championship for the side in no kind of form to turn up and claim a surprise victory, I can’t see it happening here. Home win.

Prutton predicts: 2-0 (Sky Bet odds)

Derby vs Fulham, 8pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

Wayen Rooney remains frustrated with the lack of clarity regarding Derby's future

All Derby can really do now is try and win each game as it comes and see what happens, but it’s fair to say survival is unlikely at this stage.

Fulham are almost there, but took their eye off the ball against Coventry last weekend. Marco Silva will be determined for this not to happen again, and this should be enough to get them over the line at Pride Park.

Prutton predicts: 1-3 (Sky Bet odds)

Stoke vs Bristol City: 1-1

Swansea vs Barnsley: 2-0

West Brom vs Blackpool: 1-2
