And as the Lord of the Rings star explained, Katy recognized that it was something he needed to do for himself.

“She understood that it was going to be something that would be, pardon the pun, but the wind beneath my wings in some ways,” the 47-year-old said, “and that it was necessary for me.”

As for Katy, the 39-year-old has also made sure that she and Orlando—who is also dad to 13-year-old son Flynn with ex Miranda Kerr—set aside time for themselves.

“We have a really good calendar,” she said to E! News in December. “We read it and both have the hyperlink. I’m like ‘Here’s the calendar, pin it, this is exactly where I’m going to be on this day,’ and it’s amazing and we plan way, way ahead.”
