I tested a split keyboard made for gamers, but I’d use it in the office just as much

Asus’ ROG announced a new 75% split keyboard designed for gamers at Computex 2025, and I went hands-on with the device at the show. Although it’s made for serious gamers, I couldn’t help but appreciate its design from a purely ergonomic perspective. Here’s the rundown.Â
The ROG Falcata keyboard is part of ROG’s Ace collection of esports-centric gaming devices, unveiled at Computex. It splits down the middle around the 75% mark, eliminating the right half of the keyboard if you just need the WASD keys. This allows for way more room for the right-hand mouse.

Conversely, detaching the keyboard allows you to decouple the arrow keys from the WASD, allowing for ergonomic positioning that could potentially prevent gamers from wrecking their wrists, especially during long or intense gaming sessions.Â
Although marketed toward the esports demographic, my interest is piqued any time I see a mechanical keyboard with ergonomic design elements, especially for people who appreciate high-quality construction and like using the same devices for work and play. I could totally see this being used in the office.Â
The Falcata is fully wireless, and connects via Bluetooth via the left side of the keyboard, hence the physical cord that connects the two sides of the keyboard at the top. It also features tri-level connectivity, meaning you can keep it connected to up to three devices simultaneously via Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, or wired USB.

It’s a very tactile board with fully hot-swappable, magnetic keys that can be customized for 0.1-3.5mm actuation at intervals of up to 0.01mm. It also features ROG’s new Hall sensor, designed for accurate input detection and reduction in electrical noise and interference.
Asus does love wheels and dials, so on the left side of the keyboard is a multifunction wheel that can be assigned to different settings, including key actuation point, volume, keyboard lighting, and media playback, among other things.Â
The keyboard also comes with magnetically attachable wrist rests that snap to the bottom of the keyboard. Mechanical keyboards are known to be loud and clicky, but the Falcata was actually relatively quiet, as these go. Asus says this is due to the dampening tech in the device’s construction.Â
In terms of battery life, we’ll have to test the keyboard to verify these numbers, but Asus says you can expect up to 610 hours of battery life on one charge. It won’t be an ROG device without some RGB, and the Falcata comes with the usual range of customizability here.Â
Personally, I would have loved to see the keyboard forgo the connector cable at the top if both sides are joined together, but the wired connection is certainly more stable. Maybe future iterations of the device will innovate on something a little more elegant.Â

All in all, anything that contributes to better ergonomics is a win, since the traditional keyboard and mouse setup can wreak havoc on your wrists, hands, and fingers — especially for gamers playing multiple hours at a time over the course of many years.Â
Unfortunately, Asus doesn’t have exact pricing or availability yet for the ROG Falcata keyboard, even though its product page is live on the site. I was told that it’ll definitely be available this year, probably in the summer.Â
