Pregnant News Anchor’s Water Breaks, Continues Broadcast in Labor
No one is stronger than a working mother.
Case in point: WRGB anchor Olivia Jaquith continued to host her morning segment May 21, hours after her water broke and she went into early labor with her first baby.
“We do have some breaking news this morning,” Jaquith’s co-anchor Julia Dunn explained at the top of their segment. “Literally, Olivia’s water has broke, and she is anchoring the news now in active labor.”
As if it wasn’t impressive no matter the stage, Jaquith emphasized, “Early labor, let’s not get carried away.”
Dunn went on to note that her co-anchor’s contractions were officially two minutes apart, and Jaquith shared she’d stay hosting the program as long as physically possible.
“We’re still in good shape,” she explained. “I’m happy to be here, and I’ll stay on the desk for as long as I possibly can. But if I disappear, that’s what’s going on.”
Prior to hosting their segment, Dunn asked the question on everyone’s mind in a Facebook Live May 21, “Why are you still on the anchor desk with me?”
To which Jaquith quipped, “I think I can get through a three-hour show.”
