Dakota Johnson Shares Sex Scene Preparation

Dakota Johnson isn’t blushing 50 shades of red over intimacy.

The Materialists actor teased that she doesn’t fully prepare to perform a sex scene, as she’s become more comfortable filming them.

“I don’t have to,” Dakota joked during her June 10 appearance on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast. “I’m, like, always psyched up for sex.” In fact, the 35-year-old has a certain trick she uses to navigate those sensual moments. She studies her characters’ background, which helps her interpret how they might approach sex in the film’s plot.

“First, it depends on who the character is and who the character’s supposed to be to the audience,” she continued. “Is she like a super idolized hot girl? Is she a housewife? Is she lonely? Is she scared? Is she conservative? So that’s obviously character work.”
