Parking prices for Rams-49ers game nearing cost of NFC Championship Game tickets

Dr. Rick might not have liked it when the homeowners-becoming-parents said parking is where the money is. But they weren’t wrong, and fans preparing to attend the Rams-49ers are learning that the hard way.

Arash Markazi reported that parking prices for Sunday’s NFC Championship at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, are soaring, with some costs even approaching ticket prices as the league prepares to have the stadium ready for the Super Bowl two weeks later. As of Thursday, Markazi reported that there is only a $300 price gap between parking on-site and getting into the stadium.

Even the area around the stadium is rapidly raising the price of parking. Markazi reported that a medical center nearby is charging $498.23 for a parking spot, while a high school is charging $175, a nearby residential unit has a $200 parking spot and a home is selling parking for $300.

He noted in another tweet that one ticket broker said by kickoff, parking at the stadium will be more expensive than getting in the door.

This is the first time in NFL history that the team hosting the Super Bowl is also hosting the conference championship game.

This just adds to what has likely already been discouraging news for local Rams fans. On Thursday, a report from the Los Angeles Times said that Vivid Seats believes 65 percent of the fans in attendance for the NFC Championship will be 49ers fans based on the resale of tickets. This was already a problem for the Rams in Week 18 of the season, when 49ers fans made SoFi Stadium feel like home as their team tried to get into the playoffs.

The Rams attempted to curb the presence of San Francisco fans in the NFC Championship by changing their ticket policy, but evidently, that has not been enough to stop the fans from trying to fill up the stadium with red and gold.
