When is the next Manningcast? Full TV schedule for ‘Monday Night Football’ after Week 14

Episode nine of ESPN’s popular “Manningcast” will have to wait another few weeks.

“Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli” will not be broadcast in Week 14 during the Cardinals vs. Rams game. While the matchup between two of the NFC’s best teams may seem like an ideal spot to have an alternate broadcast, the Mannings are going to have the week off.

In fact, they’ll have a few weeks off. As the holidays arrive, the Mannings will have their second, three-week-long hiatus of the season. The first one came from Weeks 4-6 after the network carried the program for the first three weeks of the season. This hiatus seems to be designed to give the Mannings a bit of a holiday break while preserving their final two episodes for the last couple of “Monday Night Football” games of the season.

When is the next Manning broadcast?

Peyton and Eli Manning will be taking a few weeks off from their typical broadcasts as the holidays near. As a result, the Manningcast won’t be on the ESPN airwaves for the critical Week 14 clash between the Rams and Cardinals, which will go a long way toward deciding whether Arizona wins the NFC West or Los Angeles can challenge them.

In fact, it will be a while before “Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli” returns to ESPN. It’s not scheduled to be broadcast in Weeks 14 through 16. The ninth episode will take place in Week 17 when the Steelers face the Browns. As for the 10th episode, that will occur during ESPN’s Wild Card broadcast. It remains to be seen which teams will participate in that contest, but whoever plays will see both the traditional broadcast and the Manningcast in action for that contest.

That “MNF” Wild Card broadcast will take place on Monday, Jan. 17, as the NFL and ESPN have agreed to host a “Monday Night Football” Wild Card game for the next five seasons.

Why Peyton and Eli Manning are on ‘Monday Night Football’

ESPN announced that Peyton and Eli Manning would be joining “Monday Night Football” on July 19, 2021. They weren’t tapped to join the actual booth, but they signed on for “Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli.”

“Offering multiple Monday Night Football viewing options for the next three seasons continues our innovation efforts and provides additional value for our fans,” chairman of ESPN and sports content Jimmy Pitaro said, via a press release. “Peyton and Eli will bring a different approach, delving into conversation about broader, big-picture topics while also honing in on the game, much like fans do when watching with their family and friends.”

The agreement was seen as a big deal for ESPN. Peyton Manning had declined to host “Monday Night Football” for several years due to travel and not wanting to criticize Eli during his playing career. The elder Manning has, however, produced several shows on ESPN, including “Peyton’s Places and “Detail.” Thus, a step into the broadcast booth — albeit from the comfort of his home — seemed logical. 

“This partnership with ESPN and The Walt Disney Company reflects an ongoing, shared commitment to offering fans fun, innovative content,” Peyton Manning said in a press release. “ESPN+ has been a terrific partner for Omaha Productions [Manning’s production company] as we built out The Places franchise and we’re excited to co-create a new MegaCast format that will have something for everyone.”

The Manningcast has been a smash success so far, with fans loving the casual commentary from the Manning brothers and the guests that they have brought onto the broadcast. It has served as a solid foil to the traditional broadcast team, which has been the only watch option when the Manningcast hasn’t been on the air.

ESPN has been the home of “Monday Night Football” since 2006, and for the first time in a while, the network will be keeping its broadcast team together. Steve Levy, Louis Riddick and Brian Griese are in the midst of their second year as the MNF broadcasters as part of a three-man booth. “Monday Night Football” games can be streamed via the ESPN app or through fuboTV, which offers a seven-day free trial.
