Nicolas Cage Shares Baby Name He Chose With Pregnant Wife Riko Shibata

News of Cage and Shibata’s growing family comes less than a year after they tied the knot in Las Vegas.

The ceremony, which was held at the Wynn hotel, saw the couple exchange “traditional Catholic and Shinto vows with poetry from Walt Whitman and Haiku sprinkled in,” per a rep for the actor.

While chatting on his brother Marc Coppola‘s radio program in 2020, Cage explained that he initially hoped that he and Shibata would have a “really beautiful Shinto wedding” in Japan, but they had to shift their plans due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It also meant that his proposal had to be virtual, too. “She left New York and went back to Kyoto, Japan, and I went back to Nevada and I haven’t seen her for six months,” he said at the time. “We’re really happy together and we’re really excited to spend that time together so I finally just said, ‘Look, I wanna marry you,’ and we got engaged on FaceTime.”

The actor ended up shipping a black diamond engagement ring to Shibata to prove his affections, adding, “I customized and personalized it and I actually sent it to her FedEx.”
