Arsenal sign Jesus from Man City

Arsenal have completed the signing of Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus on a long-term contract from Premier League champions ManCity.

The fee for the 25-year-old is understood to be £45m and he moves to the Emirates after undergoing a medical and agreeing personal terms. Jesus will wear the No 9 shirt recently vacated by Alexandre Lacazette, who left for Lyon on a free transfer.

Martinez tells Ajax: I want PL move | Undecided between Man Utd & Arsenal

Lisandro Martinez has told Ajax he wants to move to the Premier League – but has not yet decided between Manchester United and Arsenal.

The centre back took time out from his holiday last Tuesday to have a meeting with Ajax in Amsterdam to make it clear that a move to the Premier League is the only outcome on his mind this summer.

The 24-year-old has now resumed his holiday and is waiting for agreements to be in place between the clubs before making a decision on his next destination.

Although the pull of working again with Erik ten Hag at United is strong, Martinez sees both the United and Arsenal projects as suiting his playing style and is also intrigued by working with Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal confirm signing of Turner

The Gunners have officially announced the signing of goalkeeper Matt Turner on a long-term contract from MLS club New England Revolution.

The 28-year-old USA international made 102 appearances for his former side.

Arsenal are expected to make an improved bid for Leeds forward Raphinha.

The Gunners’ opening bid for Raphinha was rejected as it fell below Leeds’ valuation of the Brazil international.

Leeds are under no pressure to sell Raphinha, 25, as he has two years left on his contract – although he is not expected to sign a new deal at Elland Road.

Barcelona are also understood to want to sign Raphinha, whose agent is the former Barca player Deco.

Arsenal announce £34m Vieira deal

Arsenal have completed the singing of Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira.

Porto confirmed the deal to sell Vieira earlier this week for £34m including add-ons.

The 22-year-old Portuguese is the Gunners’ third summer arrival, after goalkeeper Matt Turner and Brazilian forward Marquinhos. Arsenal will pay £30m up front plus £4m in performance-related add-ons.

Who have Arsenal been linked with?

Alex Grimaldo – Arsenal have tabled a £6.4m offer for the Benfica left back with negotiations now underway with the Portuguese club, according to reports (Daily Express, July 11); Grimaldo remains on Arsenal’s radar and could be available for a cut-price £6m with his contract winding down (The Sun; July 7) Arsenal have reportedly contacted Benfica over a possible deal for Grimaldo having missed out on the signing of Aaron Hickey (The Sun on Sunday, July 3).

Lucas Paqueta – Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed bids have come in for Paqueta, with the Brazil international targeted by Premier League clubs including Arsenal and Newcastle United (Daily Express, July 11).

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic – Arsenal have been told to pay £55m for the Lazio midfielder, according to reports (Daily Express, July 6).

Hector Bellerin – Question marks remain over Bellerin’s future at Arsenal after he returned to training with the Premier League club on Thursday. Atletico Madrid and AS Roma are interested in Bellerin, but he would prefer a return to Real Betis after a successful 2021/22 loan spell (Daily Star, July 1); Atletico are reportedly in talks with Arsenal over a move for Bellerin (The Sun, June 30); Bellerin is willing to waiver the rest of his £5.7mi Arsenal salary on his current deal to return to Betis next season following a successful loan campaign. Kieran Tierney – Arsenal left-back Tierney has emerged as a shock transfer target for Man City, according to reports (The Sun, June 19).
