Baz Luhrmann Reflects on Late Lisa Marie Presley’s “Kind Embrace”


Elvis director Baz Luhrmann pennedĀ a touchingĀ tribute to Lisa Marie Presley after her sudden death on Jan. 12 at age 54.

“Over the last year, the entire Elvis movie family and I have felt the privilege of Lisa Marie’s kind embrace,” he wrote Jan. 13 on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of Lisa Marie and Elvis actor Austin Butler. “Her sudden, shocking loss has devastated people all around the world. I know her fans everywhere join me in sharing prayers of love and support with her mother, Priscilla [Presley], and her wonderful daughters Riley [Keough], Finley and Harper.”

He continued, “Lisa Marie, we will miss your warmth, your smile, your love.”

Lisa Marie had been an outspoken supporter of Baz’s 2022 biopic of her dad, writing on social media that fans could “feel and witness Baz’s pure love, care, and respect for my father throughout this beautiful film.”
