B’mouth 2 – 4 Burnley

Championship leaders Burnley underlined their promotion credentials with a brilliant 4-2 victory at Premier League Bournemouth in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.

Manuel Benson gave Burnley an early lead before Ryan Christie quickly levelled for the hosts, but Anass Zaroury struck twice in four minutes just before the break to give the visitors a 3-1 half-time advantage.

Bournemouth threatened a comeback as Dominic Solanke reduced the deficit three minutes after the break, but Benson grabbed his second just before the hour mark to establish a lead that Burnley never looked like giving up.

Burnley’s victory comes on the back of a six-match winning streak in the Championship, which has Vincent Kompany’s side five points clear at the top of the table.

Bournemouth will be left to focus on Premier League survival, with Gary O’Neil’s side now having lost five games in a row in all competitions.
