Fabio Paratici: Tottenham managing director has ban appeal rejected with Juventus’ 15-point deduction suspended | Football News

Tottenham managing director Fabio Paratici has had an appeal against his two-and-a-half-year ban rejected by Italy’s highest sports court.

Paratici, who denies any wrongdoing, has stepped back from his role at Spurs following his ban being made worldwide by FIFA last month.

The Italian was handed a 30-month suspension from the game in January after his former club Juventus, where he worked for 11 years, were found guilty by an Italian court of false accounting.

Sky Sports News have contacted Tottenham for comment on Paratici’s future at the club.

But Juventus have had their 15-point penalty in Serie A suspended after Italy’s top sport body ordered a football court to review its previous ruling into the club’s past transfer dealings.

With eight games left to play this season, the decision temporarily lifts Juve from seventh to third in the Serie A table – with 59 points, 16 behind leaders Napoli – into the Champions League places.

Following a three-hour hearing the previous day, the case has now been referred back to the soccer federation’s appeals court and Juventus has been handed back the points pending the new trial.

It means the Bianconeri are now two points behind second-place Lazio and three ahead of fourth-place Roma in a tight battle for the Champions League qualifying places.

Juventus were hit with the massive penalty in January for false accounting while several members of its former board were also handed bans from football activities, including former president Andrea Agnelli.

Juventus denied wrongdoing and appealed to Italy’s highest sports court within the Italian Olympic Committee, known as CONI.

Several of the suspensions were upheld including for Agnelli and Paratici.
