Keira Walsh: England midfielder taken off on stretcher with knee injury in Women’s World Cup game against Denmark | Football News

England suffered a blow during the first half of their Women’s World Cup group game against Denmark when midfielder Keira Walsh was forced off with what appeared to be a knee injury.

The Barcelona midfielder went down unopposed in her own half as she stretched for a ball in the 35th minute, catching the studs of her right boot in the ground.

The 26-year-old immediately signalled to the bench to be substituted. After a lengthy delay, Walsh left the field with her head in her hands on a stretcher and was replaced by Laura Coombs.

England Women were leading at the time through Lauren James’ fine early finish in their crucial Women’s World Cup group game against the Danes.
