Joel Embiid has been unstoppable in the Sixers’ past seven games

Embiid’s 34 points and seven rebounds led the Sixers past the Nets in Brooklyn.

The Sixers have now won three in a row led by Embiid who is starting to build an MVP case with an incredible six-game stretch.

Embiid has been on a monster tear over the past six games averaging 33.6 points per game and ten rebounds over the course of that time frame, highlighting how much the Sixers rely on him to win games. 

Equally as important, Embiid has been getting to the free-throw line during this stretch as well, averaging 12 attempts per game. 

In doing so, Embiid is also etching his name in the record books. He is the first Sixer to average 30 plus points in seven straight road games since Allen Iverson in 2006. That is now one shy of the longest streak in franchise history.

The only other player to have done it for Philadelphia is Wilt Chamberlain. 

“I’m just happy about the win,” said Embiid following Tuesday night’s win over the Raptors. “I feel like the thing that I’m proud of is my defense. I feel like I’ve become an OK scorer. That’s the part that it’s kind of forgotten. I pride myself, and the team really, to get stops especially when we need them, and guard whoever needs to be guarded. That’s the part I’m really proud of.”

Against Brooklyn on Thursday night, Embiid set out to establish his dominance from the jump.

He had 22 of his 34 points in the first half including a 16-point first quarter on 6-of-9 shooting from the field. The Nets threw different types of coverages at him, but all to no avail as he had his way with all defenders. 

The victory improved the Sixers to 19-16 on the season and was their third consecutive win (fourth on the road). It also marked Philadelphia’s first win over Brooklyn this season out of three meetings. 

They next play each other on March 10.
